Location: San Jose, CA
Compensation: $35 – $50 per hour
Hours: Full Time
Role Summary:
The Project Engineer (PE) role is integral to the success of both clients and the MSP. The PE is responsible for implementing IT solutions for clients using an industry standard project methodology. PEs deploy end user equipment and network technology at client sites and datacenters that are tailored to meet specific client business and technical requirements. PEs collaborate with team members to understand client requirements to engage in and complete projects designed by the Design Desk and managed by the Project Manager (PM). PEs provide client facing services and are required to communicate effectively across all levels of a corporate structure. PEs are also required to provide expert level technical assistance as necessary to support client and MSP technical initiatives. Through these efforts, PEs effectively generate non-recurring revenue (NRR) based on a pro forma utilization plan.
Professional Services Project Engagements:
- Provide remote and onsite client services
- Complete projects on schedule and on budget. Some examples include server/application migrations, network upgrades, SharePoint migrations, minor cabling and anything our clients could possibly request.
- Adhere to established project processes including:
- Successfully complete PE tasks in the project intake process
- Project planning and preparation
- Delivery of equipment for projects
- Equipment setup and configuration
- Execute timely maintenance windows for cutovers
- Provide afterhours project services as necessary
- Confirmation of technical alignment post project
- Manage scope creep and additional project service requests
- Completion of project technical documentation
- Maintain project status documentation
- Time entry and tracking in PSA application
- Acquire vendor support as necessary
Solutions Design Validation:
- Peer review proposals for solution validation
- Provide solutions design assistance to the Design Desk Engineer as necessary
Incident Support and On Call Service:
- Engage in billable service incidents when assigned
- Provide on-call services when scheduled and required
Onboarding Projects:
- Active participation in the onboarding process
- Provide detailed core network infrastructure documentation
Meeting Rhythm:
- Daily Huddle:
- Report previous days accomplishments and utilization
- Present project work scheduled and planned for the day
- Weekly Department Level Meetings:
- Learn about team performance and customer satisfaction ratings
- Review lessons learned and best practices
- Participate in the evolution of team processes
- New Project KT Meetings:
- Meet with DDE and VCIO to receive a KT for each project
- Learn about project business and technical requirements
- Client Project Status Meetings:
- Assist PM with status meeting preparation
- Support PM while attending project status meetings
- Conduct project status meetings with clients as necessary
- PE Sync Up Meetings with PM:
- Meet with PM on a scheduled basis
- Sync up on project schedule and assigned project’s status
- Verify and adjust schedule to meet project deadlines
- Bi-Weekly Standards Committee Meetings:
- Provide knowledge and subject matter expertise to the committee
- Assist in the development and maintenance of technology standards
- 1:1 Meetings with Team Lead:
- Review individual performance
- Identify successes and challenges
- Implement performance improvement strategies as necessary
Communication and Team Collaboration:
- Adhere to established Project Team processes and workflows, ensuring seamless inter-departmental integration, responsiveness, and transparency
- Champion company core values and actively contribute to enhancing organizational culture

- Maintain a thorough understanding of all PS Team KPIs, including an understanding of the importance of each KPI and KPI target including the following:
- 85% Billing Utilization
- 100% Effective Utilization
- Number of Open Projects
- Number of Projects Closed
- Number of Open Overbudget Projects
- Number of Open Onboarding Projects
- Billable Hours Backlog
- Nonbillable Hours Backlog
- CSAT Score
- CSAT Response Rate

Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Holds a bachelor’s degree and/or tech school degree, and industry certifications in information technology
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrates a history of achieving organizational goals while maintaining high levels of operational success and client satisfaction
- Technical Passion: Demonstrates a passion for technology with substantial experience in the field, underscoring a commitment to staying at the forefront of industry developments
- Business Acumen: Understands organizational structures and business operations to foster successful project outcomes

- PEs report directly to the PM
